A basic rifle course to familiarize the novice to intermediate shooter with the basic aspects and fundamentals of defensive rifle shooting techniques, sighting, features, maintenance, storage and transport.

Basic Shotgun Course

(Please call for dates)

A basic shotgun course to familiarize the basic to novice shooter with all aspects of shotgun defensive shooting techniques, maintenance, storage and transport.


Training can also be conducted at YOUR convenient location* for groups of no less than six (6) students.  The group coordinator 'Host' will be rewarded by attending his/her course for free. Just give us a call if you feel this plan may work for your private group, employees, community group or non-profit organization.

* When applicable - Range time and/or qualification will be conducted at a range affiliated with the UTA of SC.

South Carolina


This South Carolina approved permit course is for SC citizens who want or need to carry a concealed handgun for their personal or family’s safety. In this course, you will learn parts and operation of the handgun, proper and safe storage of a handgun, cleaning of both pistols and revolvers, and techniques for improving the skills needed for accurate shot placement. Also there will be instructions on the laws and the obligations of the concealed/open-carry weapon permit carrier. Upon completion of this course, you may apply to the State of South Carolina for a concealed weapon permit (CWP). 

You must be at least 18 years of age to register and take this

course but cannot apply for your CWP until the age of 21.

This course certification is valid for a period of three (3) years.

If the answer to ANY of the following questions is “NO”,

you WILL NOT be eligible for a permit:

  • Are you a South Carolina resident or a qualified non-resident?   (Section 23-31-210, S.C. Code of Laws)
  • Are you allowed by all applicable federal/state laws and court orders to possess a handgun?

The SC Concealed Weapons Permit course will be a minimum of eight (8) hours as required by the SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division).

This course is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and encouraged

for the NEW or INEXPERIENCED shooter.

Course topics include:  Gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.


Students must bring their own firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition and range safety gear.
